Guests are invited to enjoy the two acres of garden, which is full of mature trees and shrubs including some rhododendrons planted around the time the house was built. There are many delightful spots for relaxing in the garden, and games of petanque and croquet are available. Your hosts can take you on a conducted tour of the historic outbuildings and show you a photographic history of Otawa.

Alternatively you may wander through the walnut grove, listening to native birds such as tuis, wood pigeons and bellbirds. Fantails hover around the path to the creek where there are picnic sites next to the old waterwheel. For the more energetic there are walks in the bush, or on our hills to admire the stunning views of the Ruahine Ranges.

Just across the road is Pattison's Bush Reserve with fifteen acres of native trees and bush with clearly marked walking tracks.
